Ramadan Tarawih – Community Guidelines

  • We will pray 20 rak‘at. Those who pray 8 rak‘at are kindly requested to remain calm or speak quietly outside the masjid.
  • Please supervise young children at all times and help them remain calm during prayers.
  • Do not allow children to roam unsupervised in the car park or hallways.
  • Avoid bringing food or hot/cold drinks into the prayer hall to maintain cleanliness.
  • Keep noise to a minimum when entering or leaving the masjid, especially during ongoing prayers.
  • Ensure prams and personal items are placed in designated areas to avoid blocking walkways.
  • Park responsibly and avoid double‑parking or blocking neighbours’ driveways.
  • Maintain modest attire and observe proper masjid etiquette at all times.
  • Follow instructions from volunteers and CIC executives to help keep everyone safe.
  • Dispose of rubbish properly and help keep the masjid clean for all worshippers.
  • Be mindful of others who are praying, reciting Qur’an, or making du’a.

Information for the parents about the child care service

  • The Child minding service will start on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 and end on the declared evening of Ramadan (date to be confirmed).
  • Children aged 2 to 9 years of age are eligible to attend this child-minding service.
  • Parents must personally bring their child/ren to the CIC dining hall and sign the child/ren in at least 10 minutes before Isha salaat.
  • Parents must also personally collect their child/ren and sign them out straight after Tarawih (8 Rakat + Witr).
  • The service does not extend past the 8 rakat + Witr time, so you must collect your child/ren as soon as possible after 8 Rakat.
  • Parents are requested to bring any toys/books that their child might like to play with and any food/drink if required.
  • Child carers arrive 10 minutes before Isha prayers to receive children and leave after Tarawih (8 rakat + Witr), but only after all children have been collected by their respective parents.
  • By signing their child in, parents agree to the above conditions of the service.
  • Please email us at info@canberraislamiccentre.org.au if you need any further information.
