🕌 Eid Prayers
• The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) has announced that Eid will be on Friday.
• There will be two Eid prayers held at Sabah Al Ahmad Masjid (CIC):
o 1st Prayer: 8:00 AM
o 2nd Prayer: 9:30 AM
• See our ” Note” below about Jumu’ah prayer when Eid falls on a Friday.
🚗 Parking & Traffic Flow
• Arrive early to secure a proper parking spot.
• Park only in marked bays and avoid blocking other cars, driveways, or emergency access routes. Parking inspectors have begun issuing $140 fines for parking on the grass outside the CIC main gate.
• Please leave promptly after the 8:00 AM prayer to allow the 9:30 AM Eid prayer to park smoothly.
• Follow volunteer instructions for traffic flow and parking management (a common practice in Australian mosques during Eid).
👨👩👧 Family & Safety
• Supervise your children closely and keep them with you at all times.
• Be mindful of elderly worshippers and families with prams.
• Maintain calm and patience as large crowds are expected.
🍬 Sweet Distribution
• After 1st prayer: Sweets (probably Baklawa & jalebi with tea and coffee) will be distributed outside the masjid main door.
• After the 2nd prayer: Sweets will be distributed in the CIC hall.
• If you have family and children — or even if you’re coming on your own — and would like to join a small get-together after the second prayer in CIC hall, you are welcome to bring a plate to share. This is optional, you don’t need to worry at all if you can’t make it. We will have sweets, tea and coffee.
💳 Zakat al Fitr
• Must be paid before the Eid prayer.
• Can be paid via cash or bank transfer (see details on CIC donation webpage) or use a QR code at the masjid.
📸 Photography Etiquette
• Avoid blocking pathways or prayer rows when taking photos.
• Be mindful of people who prefer not to be photographed.
🌙 Unity Message (Common in National Announcements)
• Eid is a time of unity, compassion, and community spirit.
• Regardless of cultural background and race, all are welcome to celebrate together.
🚫 Food & Drink Inside the Mosque
• Please do NOT bring food or drinks inside the mosque.
• This helps maintain cleanliness and respect for the prayer space — a standard guideline across Australian mosques.
Note for Jumu’ah:
When Eid falls on a Friday, the Jummah prayer remains Fard (obligatory) according to the majority of scholars (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i), though it is highly recommended to attend both.
However, a strong opinion (Hanbali) allows those who attended Eid prayer to skip Jummah, making it Sunnah for them, provided they pray Dhuhr instead.
General Ruling (Majority View): Jummah is still mandatory, especially for the Imam and those living in cities. Skipping it without a valid reason is not encouraged.
The Exemption (Hanbali View): According to the Hadith, “Two Eids have fallen on the same day. So whoever wishes, [the Eid prayer] will suffice for his Friday prayer” Sunan Abu Daawood 1073;
If you do not attend Jummah, you must pray Dhuhr, say الإسلام سؤال وجواب.
Best Practice: The best action, as done by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), is to attend both Eid and Jummah if possible, or at least ensure the Jummah prayer is held in the mosque. If you miss Eid Prayer: If you did not attend the Eid prayer, the Jummah prayer remains mandatory for you.
Shia (Ja‘fari) scholars generally hold that when Eid and Jumu‘ah fall on the same day, attending Jumu‘ah remains obligatory as normal, with no concession granted for those who prayed Eid.
Thank you all, and Jazakumullahu khair.
