Canberra Islamic Centre Condemns Bondi Beach Mass Shooting.

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh!

The Canberra Islamic Centre (CIC) expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in the horrific shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

As investigations continue and more details emerge, we remain shocked and saddened by the senseless violence and its devastating impact on innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, the injured, and everyone affected by this tragedy.

The CIC stands united with all Australians in condemning this horrific act of terrorism.

In Islam, the sanctity of life is paramount. The Qur’an teaches: “Whoever takes an innocent life, it is as if they have killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it is as if they have saved all of humanity” (Qur’an 5:32). We also acknowledge the courage of Ahmed Al-Ahmed, whose brave actions helped prevent further bloodshed by disarming one of the attackers.

Muslims are an integral part of Australia’s social fabric and stand firmly for safety, justice, and peaceful coexistence. The CIC calls for unity and compassion during this difficult time, urging all communities to come together to reduce harm, support one another, and uphold the shared values that bind us.
