The Canberra Islamic Centre (CIC) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community members, volunteers, skilled tradespeople, service providers, and handymen who would like to support the Centre through various maintenance, operational, community service, and volunteer activities.
We welcome individuals who can assist either on a voluntary basis or at reasonable/nominal rates. These opportunities provide a valuable way to contribute to the upkeep, safety, services, and ongoing development of our community centre.
To ensure safety and compliance, any volunteer, contractor, handyman, or service provider carrying out work on behalf of CIC must hold a valid ABN and maintain appropriate public liability and other relevant insurance coverage to protect against property damage, personal injury, or other incidents arising from the work performed.

J02-2026 – Food Safety Supervisor

CIC is seeking a community member interested in becoming a Food Safety Supervisor to support community events and food-related activities.
CIC will cover the certification cost for the successful volunteer.

J03-2026 – CIC Gate Opening & Closing Volunteers

We are seeking reliable volunteers to assist with opening and closing the secondary CIC gate on Fridays.
Duties include:
- Opening the gate approximately 30 minutes before Jumu’ah prayer.
- Closing the gate after 2:30 pm.
- Reporting any issues or safety concerns.
J04-2026 – Safety & Security Volunteers

Regular visitors and community members are encouraged to assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment by:
- Observing and reporting suspicious or unusual activities.
- Monitoring general safety and security concerns.
- Reporting maintenance issues and hazards.
- Reporting hygiene concerns such as overflowing rubbish bins or litter around the premises.
Future Volunteer & Service Opportunities
CIC is also interested in hearing from community members who may be able to assist in areas such as:
- Building and facility maintenance
- Cleaning services
- Electrical, plumbing, and trade services
- Event management and coordination
- Youth and community programs
- Administration and governance support
- Fundraising and sponsorship initiatives
- Health, wellbeing, and educational programs
